There is a famous book called Alive!, based on actual events, where stranded survivors of a plane crash ate the dead bodies to survive.

Yes, there still are a few cultures left on earth that practice cannibalism. They are very few and in very remote areas, such as the South Pacific. Cannibalism is also in the history of almost every culture when unfortunate circumstances left people stranded without food for months, so they reverted to eating those that died, so they could live.

One notable example is the Donner party that during the winter of 1846-47 was caught in a snowstorm and were left stranded in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. During that time, some of them resorted to cannibalism on those that died of starvation and sickness until the rescue party arrived almost four months later in mid-February 1847.
