Once Adam and Eve knew that they were naked (having taken of the fruit and eaten) it represented guilt and shame. Before, however, they did not know, and therefore, it was not a sin, as they openly communed with God without any problems. I believe that Adam and Eve were only able to have a face-to-face personal relationship with God because of their sinlessness, but when they sinned, the rest was just parting words and closure about the curse (not to mention the fig leaves). It represents guilt and shame They have no concept of what's good and Evil. No concept of God and Devil. They have no Biases and Prejudices.

== == It represents the perfect open relationship between them and their maker. Hence the drastic difference when sin came. They talked with God, they performed His commands. They no doubt enjoyed all kinds of fruit growing on trees in perfect conditions.

The adding of a covering represents a barrier that now existed between them and God. Before there was open communication and fellowship and now separation and shame. Adam and Eve were highly intelligent and perfect specimens until their fall. God had communicated with them and they certainly understood His commands to them. Up until the time of the fall, their one aim was to do what God wanted, which is exactly what they were created to do, being in His image.

The Bible account clearly teaches that they were innocent, but certainly not ignorant before the fall. Something clearly changed and it was not for the better. Just study human history. The first murder was soon to follow.

How would Adam and Eve have described God?

A:Genesis 3:8 describes God walking in the Garden in the cool of the day. God talked to Adam and Eve face to face, just as another person would, and seems not to have known that they had eaten the forbidden fruit until they said they were naked and ashamed. If Adam and Eve were ashamed in their nakedness, presumably God always wore clothes, although this is not stated. So to Adam and Eve, God would have seemed just like another man, except that he had authority over them.
