Baha'is follow the teachings of the Messenger of God, Baha'u'llah (tr. the Glory of God). It is the Baha'i belief that Baha'u'llah was the spiritual fulfillment of the following prophesies: Christianity: return of the Christ in the "glory of the Father" / Kingdom on earth
Judaism: Messiah ben David or "Lord of Hosts" / Kingdom on earth
Zoroastrian: the "World Savior" Shah Bahram / age of peace
Shi'ah Islam: return of Imam Husayn / peace on earth
Sunni Islam: return of the "Spirit of God" (the Christ) / peace on earth
Hinduism: the Tenth Avatar or "Vishnu Yasha" (tr. Glory of God) / age of purity, righteousness
Buddhism: the Maitreya (or Fifth) Buddha / universal fellowship Baha'is believe in the authenticity of each of the above religions as having been revealed from the same divine Source.
Well, all in all, that there is one God, Unity of the Religions, and there is One race, the Human Race, or Unity of All Humanity. They also believe in individual investigation of the truth, where you can study things and interpret them yourself because it easier sometimes, because IVE noticed even, that sometimes people like to debate things about what ever your looking up on a religion because everyone had their own opinions.
This can best be answered by going to the source (see links below). Some of the principles and concepts are:
- there is only one all-Knowing, all-Loving God who created the Universe
- there are an infinite number of worlds - each infinite in its range - and created for our development as spiritual beings
- we are spiritual in nature - our soul comes into individual being at conception and has a connection with the body - until that body has served it's purpose.
- God sends his Manifestations, Messengers, Prophets, Teachers every so often - when man is ready for a renewal of spiritual teachings and new social teachings - according to the level of mankind's development. Therefore the Baha'is believe in the Divine nature of Moses, Christ, Buddha, Krishna, Zoroaster,Muhammad, the Bab, Baha'u''llah and others to come in the future.
-the major social teachings God has sent mankind for today are for the its unity on a world-wide basis - that this is the time prophesized in the past for all nations, races, religions, to come together in spiritual and social unity - the Kingdom of God on Earth.
-some of the principles that promote that unity are: the equality of women and men, the agreement of science and religion, the elimination of all forms of prejudice, independent investigation of truth, a universal language and script - system of weights and measures, etc,
-some of the spiritual practices revolve around prayer, meditation, fasting, marriage, service, charity,
-there is no clergy in the Baha'i Faith - but there is an administration created by Baha'u'llah - no individuals have power - only group decisions have authority.
The main thing is to investigate the Baha'i Writings yourself - not listen to what other people say. Best wishes on your spiritual adventure!!!
Some teachings of the Baha'i Faith are that there is only one God, the creator; there is only one race, the human race, as ALL were created by God; all of the world's classical religions have the same foundational truths, as all came from the same Source to different peoples at different times through the Ages as needed; that the reality of man is his soul and not the temperal body; that heaven and hell are metaphors for the spiritual nearness and distance from God in the eternal world and not physical places.
A few of the tenets/laws of the Baha'i Faith include elimination of ALL prejudices whether racial, national, religious, gender, etc.; a spiritual solution to global economic problems; mandatory education for all (especially females as the first educators of children); and full equality of the sexes.
Members of the Baha'i Faith believe in:
One God, the Creator
The oneness and equality of mankind
Independent investigation of religious truths
Common foundation of all religions (from the same Source)
Essential harmony of science with religion (both being from God)
Equality of men and women
Elimination of prejudices of all kinds
Universal compulsory education
Spiritual solution to global economic problems
Universal auxiliary language in addition to native language
Yes. The Bahai Faith is a monotheistic religion, and does not separate "its" God from the God of other faiths.
Books in the Middle East (not just Muslim books) often begin with a paragraph in praise of God. One of Baha'u'llah's books begins this way:
"In the name of God, the One, the Incomparable, the All-Powerful, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
Praise be to God, the Eternal that perisheth not, the Everlasting that declineth not, the Self-Subsisting that altereth not.
He it is Who is transcendent in His sovereignty, Who is manifest through His signs, and is hidden through His mysteries.
He it is at Whose bidding the standard of the Most Exalted Word hath been lifted up in the world of creation, and the banner of "He doeth whatsoever He willeth" raised amidst all peoples.
He it is Who hath revealed His Cause for the guidance of His creatures, and sent down His verses to demonstrate His Proof and His Testimony, ...
No God is there but Him, the One, the Peerless, the Powerful, the Mighty, the Beneficent.
(Epistle to the Son of the Wolf)
The Bahai Faith does not use any code in its scriptures, which everyone is encouraged to read for themselves. See the Bahai Reference Library for a good selection of Bahai scriptures, all for free. The Bahai community today also does not use codes, secret handshakes, etc..
