Gods rightousness was manifested through Jesus Christ. Christ never sinned, he fulfilled the law of God. When we believe he died for our sins on the cross and that God raised him from the dead the third day, God imputes Christ rightousness to us when we believe on Jesus. He died in our place taking the punishnent of death for our sins. See 1Cor 15:1-7, Romans 1:16 Romans 4:5, Romans 5:1, Romans 6:23 Ephesians 1:13 Ephesisans 2:8-9
The Bible defines "Righteousness" as:
"...ALL THY COMMANDMENTS ARE RIGHTEOUSNESS." (Ps.119:172)
"Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts. I have longed for thy Salvation, O Lord; and thy law is my delight. Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; and let thy Judgments help me. I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy Commandments." (verses 173-176)
Righteousness is the "doing" of God's Commandments. It's "doing good works"... loving and fearing God, and loving and respecting others.
"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
"Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least Commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called Great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
"For I say unto you, That except your Righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the Kingdom of Heaven." (Matt.5:17-20)
"Of a Truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: but in every nation he that feareth Him, and worketh Righteousness, is accepted in Him." (Acts 10:34-35)
Righteousness is doing good works in fear and respect of God and through faith in Jesus Christ.
"Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the Commandments of God, and the Faith of Jesus." (Rev.14:12)
One definition of "righteousness" is the "Ten Commandments."
"My lips shall utter praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes. My tongue shall speak of thy Word: for ALL THY COMMANDMENTS ARE RIGHTEOUSNESS." (Ps.119:171-172)
Answer:The literal, "stand-alone" meaning of the Greek word dikaiosune (translated "righteousness" in the New Testament) is, "the character or quality of being right or just"(Vine's Complete Expository Dictionary).Strong's Greek Lexicon gives the following meanings as well, based on Scriptural context:
1. The state of being as one ought to be; the condition acceptable to God
2. The doctrine concerning the way in which man may attain a state approved of God (Noah was a "preacher of righteousness" - 2 Peter 2:5)
3. Characterized by integrity, virtue, purity of life, rightness, correctness of thinking, feeling, and acting (The "fruit of righteousness" - Hebrews 12:11)
I assume that you mean righteousness. Righteousness is, very simply, leading a life that is pleasing to God.
means it really belongs to someone
The concept of righteousness in the Torah means doing the will of God to the greatest possible extent. To describe it in detail would mean to print out the entire Torah, since it is the guide for righteousness in Judaism.
Righteousness means "good". To be righteous, you have to try to live by God's teachings. You have to be good-natured. Someone who murders, steals, commits crime, etc. is probably not righteous!
God's 'righteousness' speaks more of His justice, acts and judgments - His holiness in action via His righteousness reflecting His perfect character.
One very good verse is in Matthew 6:33, "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you". This is speaking of Salvation, or God's righteousness. If you seek God's righteousness and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as you Savior, Lord and Master, with it will come the full care and provision of God.
Because of the righteousness of Abraham.
Because it is synonymous with closeness to God, which is our purpose.
Righteousness is the belt of truth in god's armour.
Justice and righteousness
No one.Christ lost all, and at his end he proclaimed that God had abandoned him.Job lost nearly all, and was ONLY restored after he questioned God's righteousness. I wonder sometimes, if Job never questioned God's righteousness, would God have been content to allow Job to live the rest of his life in misery?
There was not an exact Bible scripture in Proverbs that matches "your righteousness sin to God", however see the following with the grouping of words below: 34 Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.
