There are a variety of generally accepted ways to answer this question. Variants arise from different kinds of titles in different Christian denominations or different regions, and with different levels of ecclesiastical hierarchy that layer on additional titles. Of course, it is often appropriate to be much less formal. However, here is a simple answer as to the formal forms:
One formally refers to one Christian minister as "The Reverend <first name, last name>" or "The Reverend Mr/Ms/Dr <last name>. Thus: "The Reverend Gerard Werbecky" or "The Reverend Dr Borkent". If one refers to two ministers, as a couple or not, it would the "The Rev. Gerard Werbecky and the Rev. Dr. Jane Borkent". To their faces (and also when making third-person references subsequent to the first one) , you would address them (or refer to them) "Ms Werbecky" or "Dr. Borkent". If you are the ministers and are signing a letter, you would sign your name(s) without titles, and type underneath <first name, last name> followed by your academic letters.
An envelope should be addressed to "The Reverends John and Mary Doe" An acceptable alternate would be: The Reverends, Mr & Mrs John Doe"
You could address it to Reverend and Reverend Smith. The alternative would be the Reverends Smith.
Call her Mrs Reverend
The Revds John and Mary Smith
Addressing a husband and wife who are both Reverends: Reverends John & Jane Doe.
Simply pluralize the title. For instance:Drs. John and Malina Smith1000 West Washington St.Greenville, MI 48838Dear Drs. Smith;Or:Reverends Phil & Phillis Phillips777 Pearly Gates WayParadise, TX 76073Dear Reverends Phillips;
Yes
Priests, bishops, reverends and other such preachers.
"The Reverends (his first name) and (her first name) (their last name)" is the proper way to address an envelope. Dear "Reverends (last name)" would be the opening to a letter. If introducing the couple to another person, "These are the reverends (so and so)" would be appropriate.
