The Bible says that sexual activity should take place only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (Proverbs 5:18) Therefore, a person who wants to please God should not engage in sexual activity until he or she gets married. (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5) Premarital sex is nothing more than the "temporary enjoyment of sin." (Hebrews 11:25) It can cause lasting physical, emotional, and spiritual harm.

Jehovah's Witnesses follow the Bible's stance that sex outside of marriage is considered fornication and is therefore a sin in God's eyes. To become one of Jehovah's Witnesses, you must first qualify for baptism, which among other things, requires that you are living a life free from things like fornication.

If a baptized member of Jehovah's Witnesses does commit fornication, they are to confess the sin to the elders in the congregation and the elders are trained to give scriptural counsel to the person. If the elders deem the person as truly repentant based on their reaction to the counsel and a correction in their conduct, the person will be able to stay a member of the congregation. If the person rejects the corrective counsel or continues to commit additional acts of fornication, they will be disfellowshipped and at that point the other members of the congregation are supposed to stop any association with that person until they prove they can live a life free from fornication and be reinstated. (Much of this process is based on Paul's counsel in 1 Corinthians chapters 5 and 6.)
