The Book of Lamentations is about the destruction of Jerusalem. It follows the Book of Jeremiah who is said to be the author who wrote it.

Lamentations is a book in the Old Testament written (most believe) by Jeremiah the prophet. Its main theme is the sadness (lamenting) of Jeremiah over the destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BC by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar.
The book of Isaiah in the Old Testament foretells the destruction of Samaria (Isaiah 10:5-6) and Jerusalem (Isaiah 39:5-7). Additionally, the book of Jeremiah also contains prophecies regarding the destruction of the cities.
