No we simply fast to feel what Jesus did when he gave up his life for us
By not eating anything.
Hard and fast.
The disciples did fast but only occasionally.
As Jesus was lead into the wilderness , by the spirit for 40 days and nights , before he started his ministry.
The spirit lead Jesus into the wilderness to fast and pray for 40 days.
Jesus, when he went into the desert for forty days and nights to fast and pray.
40
The holy spirit came upon Jesus, and the voice of god said. This my beloved son in who i am well pleased. Jesus then went into the wilderness . lead by the spirit to fast and pray.
wandering in the desert for 40 days and of course, dying for us on the cross!
Jesus did not fast for 40 days and nights in a garden before the last supper. Jesus fasted 40 days in the desert/wilderness at the beginning of His ministry (Mark 1:12-13; Matt. 4:1-11; Luke 4:1-13). Jesus made His intercessory prayer (AFTER the Last Supper) in the garden of Gethsemane (John 14-18).
Jesus did not need any baptism, but it was more symbolic, before he went to fast for 40 days and then start his mission on earth.
