It is always a good idea to read The Bible yourself. It's a good way to get closer to God and a great way to pass time, but if you really are in a bind I would recommend:

-Colossians 3:20-21

-1 Samuel 16:23

-Proverbs 1:8-9

-Matthew 5:43-48

-Luke 6:30-36

-James 1:19-20

Those are just a few. I really encourage you to read the Bible yourself and find a few of your own verses on respect.

Answer:

Exodus 20 is a good place to start. This chapter lists the Ten Commandments, which are God's basic rules of love and respect toward our Creator... and toward our fellowman -- when they are understood and obeyed.

Even "MERCY" is included within its tenets:

"...for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers [for breaking God's laws of Love and Respect] upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them THAT HATE ME; and SHEWING MERCY unto thousands [or the thousandth generation] of THEM THAT LOVE ME, and KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS." (Ex.20:5-6)

These are the laws of God that He has been working on teaching man... so that he might learn to get along with one another by the conclusion of His plan. They are the basics all of God's Children should know and obey in order to live at Peace for all Eternity.

Unfortunately... the hard-won lessons of Love and Respect are being learned the hard way by man, who "broke the first Commandment" in the beginning of man's existence and chose the wrong god to worship and obey. The result is man's learning disrespect... and hatred... and all the negative aspects of "sin" [the transgression of the law - I John 3:4].

At the conclusion of God's plan... He will place His "spiritual laws" WITHIN His Loving, Respectful Children, when they are finally born into His Family.

"...I will put My Laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts... for I will be Merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more." (Heb. 8:10-12)

A study of the Ten Commandments is a great place to start, to learn of Love and Respect. It takes a lifetime to begin to understand them -- if they are understood even then.

After all... entire generations have lived and died who hardly ever read them, much less understood them. But, then... the coming Judgment will bring all of man's works full circle, when they will be remembered... and "rewarded" accordingly.

Then all the generations will live again... and remember 6000 years of how disrespectful they were to God and to one another.

"And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled; and YE SHALL LOTHE YOURSELVES IN YOUR OWN SIGHT for all the evils that ye have committed.' (Ezek.20:43)

Other verses from the Bible may be listed on "respect"... but the Ten Commandments is a good place to start.

And end.

"Blessed are they that DO HIS COMMANDMENTS, that they may have right to the Tree of Life, and may enter in through the gates into the city." (Rev.22:14)

There are a number of these. Here are two:

1Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. 1Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; 3That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. 4And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. 12And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; 13And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
