By proponents, do you mean people who support it? Or do you mean components? Either way, I can't give you a straight answer. There are many big proponents of Intelligent Design, but I have never heard of any concrete components of it.

Intelligent Design advocates state that all life was designed by a higher power. They derive their belief from the complexity of DNA and Biblical scripture. They also generally believe that evolution is not true. Unfortunately for ID advocates, the evidence for evolution far outweighs any suggestive assumption against evolution derived from one point of view and one belief system. The evidence only points in one direction, and that direction is that evolution is absolutely true.

What is the difference between a creationist and an Intelligent Design proponent?

Intelligent Design proponents are creationists, but not all creationists are Intelligent Design proponents. Proponents of Intelligent Design insist that it is not Creationism because it is not a specifically religious hypothesis. They hoped to convince the United States Supreme Court that their hypothesis is not based on religious beliefs and should be treated in law in the same way as is science. However, evidence presented to the Supreme Court showed that Intelligent Design is Creationism under another name, and that its proponents had always intended it to be so.For more information, please visit: http://christianity.answers.com/theology/the-story-of-creation

Who do Intelligent Design people believe in?

The principal proponents of "Intelligent Design", such as the creationist Discovery Institute, claim that Intelligent Design is not a religious argument, and they are therefore neutral as to who the Designer actually is. In practice, virtually all proponents of this hypothesis are Christians. They therefore believe in the Abrahamic God, and seek to have people believe that Intelligent Design proves his existence. For more information, please visit: http://christianity.answers.com/theology/the-story-of-creation

In what year was intelligent design thought of?

Barbara Forrest describes the intelligent design movement as beginning in 1984 when Jon A. Buell's religious organisation the Foundation for Thought and Ethics published The Mystery of Life's Origin by creationist and chemist Charles Thaxton. The idea for intelligent design came about because the United States courts rejected the teaching of creationism, and then 'creation science', as science in the school syllabus. The proponents of intelligent design hoped that the courts would accept intelligent design as a suitable topic for a science course, taught alongside, or instead of, evolution. For more information, please visit: http://christianity.answers.com/theology/the-story-of-creation

What is atheistic intelligent design?

atheistic intelligent design is the theory that everything has been designed, but the creator is not God or a supernatural entity. John Gribbin is an atheistic intelligent design proponent and he concludes human beings are infact the creators of the universe, he calls his theory the "designer multiverse theory" it is a type of atheistic intelligent design. Other atheistic intelligent design proponents include some Buddhists and idealist philosophers who conclude every object in the universe is created from the mind of humans but objects do not exist when nobody is looking at them, what keeps them in existence is experience, Ernst Mach was an atheist who supported this, he called his theory phenomenalism the theory concludes there are no mind independent objects, only sensations are real.

Is intelligent design the same as creationism?

For the most part, yes, but there are some key differences. Intelligent Design (ID) does not mention who is the creator or deity. Creationism is based strictly on the Bible teachings in the book of Genesis. Either way, they both believe that humans are too complex to have been designed by evolution or natural selection.

What is Intellegent design?

Intelligent design (ID) is the proposition that "certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection." It is a form of creationism and a contemporary adaptation of the traditional teleological argument for the existence of God, presented by its advocates as "an evidence-based scientific theory about life's origins" rather than "a religious-based idea". The leading proponents of intelligent design are associated with the Discovery Institute, a politically conservative think tank, and believe the designer to be the Christian God.
