There are numerous breakoffs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Some of the more well known are the FLDS and RLDS churches. Some churches named the Church of Christ have also broken off of the LDS church, but the name is commonplace so not all of those churches are splits from the LDS church.
About 5% of all churches in the state with most of the churches as LDS,
There is no specified height, it all depends on the design and size of the building and the zoning requirements in the city where it is built. Some LDS churches don't have any spires because they are prohibited by local laws. Check out the "Related Links" below to see examples of various LDS church meetinghouses and their different spires.
Mormonism is more accurately described as a religious movement, as there are several different denominations, sects, and churches which would claim to be "Mormon" or part of the Mormonism movement. These churches all claim to be the proper continuation or authorized reorganization of the church established by Joseph Smith in 1830.The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (or LDS) is commonly called the "Mormon church" and is what most people think of when they hear the word Mormon. The LDS church is considered a denomination, as it is an organization of about 30,000 congregations worldwide. The LDS church is the largest denomination in the Mormonism movement.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the LDS or "Mormon" church) does not really have 'fundamentalist' members. Of course some are more devout in their religious practice than others, but all are expected to believe the published doctrines of the Church. (You can learn about these doctrines at the "Related Links" below.) You may be thinking of members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also called the FLDS church). This group broke off from the LDS or Mormon church over 100 years ago in a dispute over the practice of polygamy. The FLDS today differs quite a lot from the LDS church. The FLDS continue to practice polygamy, have very strict modest dressing standards, generally live in isolated communities, and are expected to have firm devotion to their prophet. In general, although both churches share the same scripture and early history, the FLDS is much more extreme in their doctrine and practice than the mostly mainstream LDS church.
Both churches and the Lutheran Church are "non reformed churches". They did not eliminate the rites of the Roman Catholic Church during the reformation. The Lutheran and Episcopal Churches are Protestant churches. The Lutheran church was founder by Martin Luther when he broke away from the Catholic Church and the Episcopalian church was formed when King Henry the eighth of England broke away from the Catholic Church and the Pope. He later took over all the churches and destroyed many of them. As a side note, all Christians were Roman Catholic until the 15th century.
And LDS prophet earns no income from the church. The LDS church utilizes a complete lay clergy where all leadership is voluntary. The same for Bishops, Stake Presidents, Mission Presidents, and all other authorities.
First of all the Greek Orthodox broke with the Catholic Church and then during the period called the reformation the the "reformists" broke with the Catholic Church and formed various 'protestant' churches
While Mormons believe they are the true church, I think most churches feel that way about their own church. The LDS (Mormon) Church does not believe that other religions are from satan.
All three are "Christian" religions Catholics believe in the Trinity, LDS and INC churches do not. Catholic and LDS churches see Christ as a God (although in very different ways). INC does not see Christ as a God, but as a mediator between man and God the Father. The Catholic church professes to be the same continuous church that Christ founded while he was on the earth. LDS and INC churches believe that the church Christ founded fell into apostasy after the death of the apostles, and therefore profess to be a restoration of the church Christ founded while he was on the earth. According to each sect: The Catholic church has a Pope, who has the authority of God, passed all the way down from Peter. The INC was restored by a Prophet (Felix Manolo) with the authority of god, but he was the last that will be seen on the earth. The LDS Church claims to have been restored by a Prophet as well, but claims that the authority of God carried by that man (Joseph Smith Jr) has been passed down (similar to Catholic authority) and that the Church today is still led by a living prophet and twelve apostles. There are plenty more things to compare. These are the biggest (imho).
All churches are the 'churches of Christ' as long as they believe in Jesus Christ, Holy God, Holy Spirit and Christianity. The Catholic Church is the Church of Christ here on earth. The Churches of Christ is also a denomination. Their churches are identified by the name Church of Christ... For example, Stuartville Church of Christ or Plat City Church of Christ.
All churches have catechisms. In the catholic, there is called a Cathechisms in the Catholic church.
