asalamu aleikum. if you have said your shahada you are Muslim It is good though to go to a local majid or mosque and talk ti the imam, they have to help you, and there they will announce to the other Muslims that you are now a Muslim, so when you meet people in the street they will say asalam aleikum. when i converted to Islam 25 years ago, i had at piece of paper that proves that i'm Muslim.
