There is no credible evidence that any Apostle wrote any particular lines of the Apostle's Creed. The creed itself is considered to have been written around 140 AD and so, although ancient, it was not written when any of the Apostles were still alive.

What it most certainly does embody is the details of the faith which the Apostles believed and which Christians today still follow. In that sense it is worthy of its name.

How does the Apostles Creed guide us to live as Catholics?

What does the line 'We believe in the Holy Spirit' in the Apostle's Creed mean?

The Apostle's Creed is a collection of Christian doctrine. It contains the beliefs of Christian churches in the most basic form. Many would say that in order to be considered a true Christian Church that said church must hold the beliefs contained within the creed. The line "We believe in the Holy Spirit" means just that. The church saying the creed upholds the belief that the Holy Spirit is the third member of the Trinity and is something to be believed in just as Jesus is something to believe in.

Why at Church when they say the Apostles Creed do they leave out the line that he descended into hell?

At church we recite the NICENE creed which does not contain this reference. However, when we do recite the APOSTLES creed the current translation is he "descended to the dead". This is intended to note that Jesus came to save all with his victory over death, and in particular to those who died before his victory. In the revised Roman missal in Advent of 2011, this will be changed back to "he descended into hell".

How are the Apostles' Creed and Nicene Creed similar to yet different from each other?

They are very similar. In fact, the Nicene creed is essentially a lengthened version of the Apostles' creed containing everything that the Apostles' creed has in it. There is only one exception where the Apostles' creed has new information: the Apostles' creed states that Jesus descended into the dead before rising in three days whereas the Nicene creed does not mention the descending of Jesus into the dead. Both creeds are used in Masses said around the world as an acceptable prayer that occurs after the Homily at the start of the Liturgy of the Eucharist. It is up to the local Bishop's preference. In the United States, the Nicene creed is used most typically. The Apostles' creed is typically used when saying a Rosary.

Charles A Callis Priesthood LIne of Authority?

Charles A. Callis was ordained an Apostle on April 14, 1934, by President Heber J. Grant. His priesthood line of authority would stem from this ordination through the laying on of hands by President Grant and any other Apostles who participated in the ordination. This authority can be traced back to the restoration of the priesthood through Joseph Smith and the original Apostles of the Church.

Why do Anglicans still say in their creed that they believe in the catholic church?

When they say in the Apostles creed "I believe in the holy Catholic church" they don't mean the Roman Catholic church, which is odd in that the Roman (Latin rite) Catholic church is the TRUE church. If they were to say the Nicene creed which goes.....I believein one holy Catholic and apostolic church....they would have a problem in that they are not apostolic, that is not ordained directly in line from the apostles which catholic priests are. Realising this the Anglicans have changed the definition of Apostolic to mean following the gospel message(s) as originally preached by the apostles. In short Anglicans (low church, liberal church and hight church) are really protestants pretending to be Catholics.

How did the church leader Irenaeus help bring about the rise of the pope and the Roman church?

Irenaeus claimed -that the Apostles had appointed bishops as their successors, -that these successors had in turn appointed successors of their own, -and that much (if not all) of the authority of the Apostles had therefore been passed down in an unbroken line to the bishops of his day.
