This question can be answered only with speculation and supposition, since no record of the skin color those people exists.

**ANOTHER VIEW**

YES, The original Jews were Black.

When the Babylonians laid seige against Israel, the Israelites were in a famine. This is how the prophet Jeremiah described it.

Lamentations 5:10 OUR SKIN WAS BLACK LIKE AN OVEN BECAUSE OF THE TERRIBLE FAMINE.

When black people get sick, or starve for a long time, they get darker. When white (Je-wish) or "red" people get sick or don't eat they get pale. Acts 21:37-39 And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek? ART NOT THOU THAT EGYPTIAN, which before . . .

. . . But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew . . .

An Israelite have never been mistaken for any other nationality that wasn't black.

The Prophet Enoch lived in the 2nd century and he was a black Ethiopian. This means the original Jews were black and that Judaism did not have its origin in Israel. The Isreali people delivered from Egypt by Moses were not the only Jewish people at that time. Also they were not called Jews because the Aramaic language hasno J's

Today's Jews are the descendants of their Jewish ancestors, as DNA testing has shown. Jews are a Mediterranean people, with skin ranging from white to that of the Yemeni Jews. No Jews are Black unless from converts.

No. Just as today, Jews (Israelites) came in differing skin-tones, heights, and body-types. Our tradition is that the twelve sons of Jacob (the 12 Tribes) were not completely similar to each other in appearance, though none of them was really dark-skinned (Rashi commentary on Genesis 12:11).
Abraham himself came from Western Asia, and since Jews have intermarried very little in the last 3800 years, the answer is that he probably looked like Jews today.
DNA testing of Jewish communities worldwide has shown that they are all interrelated and of Middle Eastern genetics, comparable to the Sephardim today (not African or Egyptian). Our own ancient sources state that the Hebrews were not Black.

I don't think so ...

  • Answer
Of course not. This idea has been debunked by DNA testing.

Abraham and Sarah came from southern Iraq and their wider family from northern Iraq. Since DNA tests have shown that Jews intermarried infrequently throughout history, Abraham and his Israelite descendants, including Moses, probably looked like Jews today.
DNA testing of Jewish communities worldwide has shown that they are all interrelated and of Middle Eastern genetics, not African or Egyptian.
In 2000, the analysis of a report by Nicholas Wade "provided genetic witness that Jewish communities have, to a remarkable extent, retained their biological identity separate from their host populations, evidence of relatively little intermarriage or conversion into Judaism over the centuries. The results accord with Jewish history and tradition."
The only exception to this is the Ethiopian Jews, who show only a trace of DNA connection to other Jewish communities.

There is no conclusive evidence either way. Nobody should care, because the whole point of not drawing the forefathers, which is prohibited, is so they should be equally like every Jew who reads about them in his mind.

No. Since DNA analyses have shown that today's Jews are descendants of their Judean ancestors (and secular scholars accept these findings), it is understood that the Jewish people of Judea looked like Jews today.

The first Jews, if you believe The Bible, are descended from Abraham, a wandering Aramean. That is, he came from Aram, the land now mostly Syria. He probably looked like most Syrians today, or possibly like the Bedouin tribesmen of Jordan, the Siani, the Negev and northwestern Saudi Arabia. None of these people look either like sub-Saharan Africans or like northern Europeans. They tend to look intermediate, not fitting cleanly into modern American racial categories. Our categories are at fault here. The people of the Middle East are not at fault for not fitting into our categories.

What is the percentage of black Jews to white Jews in the world?

There are around 150,000 Ethiopian Jews, compared with 14 million Jews total. This makes Black Jews 1.1% of all Jews, since non-Ethiopian Black Jews are incidental thousands. Tribes such as the Lemba which do not engage in Jewish practices are not counted; and the Black Israelite Churches like COGASOC are not considered Jews. It is unclear what a "White Jew" is. If you are strictly talking about Ashkenazim, they make up roughly 10.5 million Jews which is 75.0% of all Jews. The remaining 23+% is made up of Mizrahim, Romaniotes, Bukharian Jews, Chinese Jews, Indian Jews, and other "exotic Jews."
