According to the Book of Genesis, Moses was born in Egypt. However, there is good reason to believe that Moses never really existed, in which case he was not born anywhere.
It seems likely that she was born in Egypt.
The Bible says that 70 people entered Egypt and verses 6 and 7 (below) indicate that many years had elapsed between the end of Genesis and the events of Exodus. At the time Moses was born there were probably 2 or 3 million Israelites in Egypt.
Exo 1:5 All those who were descendants of Jacob were seventy persons (for Joseph was in Egypt already).
Exo 1:6 And Joseph died, all his brothers, and all that generation.
Exo 1:7 But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them.
According to tradition she was born just as the Israelites were entering Egypt (Rashi commentary, on Exodus 2:1 and Genesis 46:15). See also:
Moses never entered Israel. In fact, Moses never set foot in Israel at any time in his life, either before or after the Exodus.
Moses literally did nothing in Israel ... he never set foot in the 'promised land'.

No. Moses must have been born nearly 1000 years after Abraham. Abraham constituted the beginnings of Israel, effectively. His grandson, Jacob, was later named, "Israel". Jacob had 12 sons - which is where the 12 tribes of Israel began. Later, Israel had been in bondage to Egypt for 400 years before Moses was called to save them and set them free.

Moses did not divide people into groups. The children of Israel were divided into tribes based on which son of Jacob(Israel) they descended from.
