Most would say no but some same yes.

Traditionally James the Less (son of Alphaeus) was different than James the brother of Jesus (also called James the Just and the bishop of the church in Jerusalem) who is described as the author of the book of James.

Critics argue that James the brother of Jesus (James the Just) was also James the Less. James was a very common name at the time (as it is today) so it can be confusing which James is described in The Bible.

In fact, there is also James, son of Zebedee, who is brother to John and called James the Greater to distinguish him from the other two.

Where was James who was one of the disciples?

James the disciple was the brother of John. They were from Galilee. James, the author of the book of James, was not the disciple. He was the half-brother of Jesus. I say half-brother because they had the same mother, Mary. Joseph was the earthly father of Jesus, but God was His real Father. Joseph was the father of James.

The epistle which he wrote and is addressed to the 12 tribes scattered abroad, was probably written from Jerusalem, but the date is not known.AdditionallyThere were also two apostles named James called James the Greater and James the Less to distinguish from each other.
