One of the major issues in Australian churches is how to stop churches from dying out. Many churches are populated by older people, and the younger generation is moving away from traditional churches, sometimes into agnosticism, sometimes into Pentecostal churches and sometimes into "new age" religions. Many traditional churches are seeking to ensure they cater to the needs of the younger computer/technology driven generation.
Mostly Prodestant but not as we know them today. For instance, Babtist and Methodist were much like the Pentecostal religions of today. Not the quiet, ceremonious churches we reconize them as today.
The Pentecostal Church is actually the fastest growing church, sucking up numerous disheartened Catholics, who are still the VAST majority of the population and as far as I know, they are still the next fastest growing, as any growth in the population is an increase for the Catholic Church.

I don't think there any Christians who would say they are for war, but there are denominations and individuals who are conscientious objectors. The United Pentecostal Church takes an official stand of conscientious objection, but most Pentecostal denominations today do not.

Because they were less knowledgeable and far more superstitious than most people today. In addition they were kept in fear by the churches and those in power.
Most churches today would say: to Heaven. Hell used to be something churches sometimes threatened you with, but today not anymore. We've found that putting someone through hell is mostly something that other people can be very good at.
