like any religion, taoism spread because people heard about it and began to believe in it.
A creation myth would not be very useful to Taoism and I would be surprised to hear of any myths being passed down with the cultural Taoism of ancient Asia.

Personally, I shave my head, but I am certain any hairstyle can be worn in the pool. I have never seen a rule restricting any hairstyle.
Taoism really doesn't have any "rituals." It's all about clearing your mind and taking everything in; emptying your cup if you will.

Primarily Buddhism, also Daoism and Confucianism (though these are more general cultural practices and less institutional/spiritual). The main religions are Buddhism and Christianity. The Christians in China are persecuted and meet in houses instead of church buildings, but there are an estimated 60 to 70 million Christians in China.
Confucianism supports a strong government; Taoism supports a weak government.
