In Christianity, there are mixed beliefs on this. It comes down to how people are translating the verse.
The second commandment states: "You shall have no other Gods before me."
Others view graven images as carved idols used for worship. In any case, it is stated that these are bad. No statue should be used to worship. There are verses in Exodus that talk about Israelites creating a golden calf to worship, a practice they picked up in their time in Egypt. God planned on destroying them, until Moses begged for mercy. Even then, those who did not come to Moses when asked whose side they were on were destroyed.
Yes, as it violates the 2nd Commandment:
Exodus 20:3-5New King James Version (NKJV)3 You shall have no other gods before Me.4 You shall not make for yourself a carved image any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,
Dead to sin.
sin!
You can not weigh the gravity of sin. Sin is sin. The only way to get rid of it is through Jesus Christ. He will take the gravity of sin away for you.
No. Christ was without sin meaning He would not have engaged in sex outside of marriage and Jesus' mission while on Earth was not to get married and produce children.
It is not a sin to not to give up anything but if you do not think the relevance of the passion of Christ maybe it is a sin.
You die to sin and rise to new life of grace with Christ in all the sacraments beginning with Baptism.
All sins of mankind Christ died for either grave or light or Mortal sin or Venial. Christ died for all the sins of any man or woman that believes and follows him.
You wont find one. Only Christ can forgive sin.
"Hate the sin, but love the sinner," is a quote from Mahatma Gandhi, not Jesus Christ.
No sin is to great for the blood of Christ to cover.1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Sin is a destroyer. If a person sins habitually and is a Christian God will take that person out of the lives of other Christians, sometimes by an early death. Sin will destroy the local church, which is part of the Body of Christ. Many Christ believing Churches have gone under because of sin in the membership. An occasional sin if confessed will be forgiven by God as all persons sin, even Christians, but Christians are strongly encouraged to repent of their occasional sins and confess them to God. If Christians do this the Body of Christ is healed. See I John 1:9.)
Why? Because Jesus the Christ spent much time in and around Jerusalem. But the biggest reason is that is where jesus Christ went to the cross, suffered and died for me and other Christians. He paid for our sin on the cross outside the walls of Jerusalem, was buried in a tomb there and was resurrected there.
