In the Bible, God struck dead Lot's wife as a testament against his people in the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot's wife looked back at the destruction of the cities against God's instructions, and for that disobedience, she turned into a pillar of salt.
In Genesis 18, there is the story of Abraham bargaining with God. By the end of the chapter he gets God to agree not to destroy Sodom if only ten just men in the city. Of course there aren't - read chapter 19, He sends His angels to Lot's house, and the men of the city try to "abuse them". So they have Lot flee with his family, and God's rains down fire and brimstone on the city.
Two angels rescued Lot and his family from the doomed cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. The angels warned Lot to flee before the cities were destroyed by God for their wickedness.
The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were mentioned in the Book of Genesis in the bible. The cities were considered hedonistic. The story is famous for Lot and his wife being told to leave the city and to not look back. Lot's wife looks back and is turned into a pillar of salt.
That is a very debatable question. God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of the great amount of sin found in those cities. "But the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinful against the LORD." Genesis 13:13 (NKJV) "For we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown great before the face of the LORD and the LORD has sent us to destroy it." Genesis 19:13 (NKJV) And amongst all those sins we find that homosexuality was very popular in these cities. Genesis 19:5 " And they called to Lot and said to him, "Where are the men who came with you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally." (NKJV)
Abraham. Abraham knew that God had slated Sodom and Gomorrah for destruction because of how great their sin was, but he knew that in the city lived his nephew Lot and his family. So, after the pleading, it came down to the fact that only Lot and his family were worthy of saving and the rest of the people in those cities were destroyed. This is discussed in the Bible book of Genesis.
Lot was wrong to choose to live in Sodom and Gomorrah because the cities were known for their wickedness and sinfulness. By living there, Lot exposed himself and his family to the corrupt and immoral environment, putting their spiritual well-being at risk. Ultimately, the cities were destroyed by God due to their extreme wickedness.

Lot is found in the Old Testament in the book of Genesis. Genesis11:31 And Terah took his son Abram and his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram's wife, and they went out with them from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan; and they came to Haran and dwelt there. He is also in Genesis 13 and 19. He is also mentioned in the New Testament in Luke and 2 Peter
