When Jesus was born, the Jewish Law or Torah was the religious system of the Jewish people of the time. Thus Jesus was born 'under the Law' in terms of both when He was born and in terms of the prevailing system to which Jews at that time were subject.

Why do people still read about Jesus Christ?

As the teaching of Jesus Christ was very simple and easy to follow, and you do not have to do anything like what some people do. They meditate for years under a tree and all that. All you do is read the teachings of Jesus and follow it. Mainly people are looking for peace. The Bible teaches that Jesus was the long promised Messiah (Christ), that is Deliverer. The one who would save mankind from their sin. God in times past spoke through His prophets about what He would do and about this Deliverer. But when Jesus came, God spoke through His Son, Jesus. According the the Bible, Jesus is that Deliverer who came to save mankind from their sin. As children of Adam we are all by our very nature sinners, breakers of God eternal law. We are born that way, no one needs to teach us how to break God law. Jesus came to free us from that sin nature, by His perfect sinless life and death. People still read about Jesus Christ, because as His disciple Peter confessed that He, Jesus, alone has the words of eternal life. Jesus said about His life that He had come that we might have life and have it more abundantly.
