∙ 13y agoThe Mormon Church's first gathering was the establishment of their church on April 6, 1830. They finally settled in Utah in July of 1847. There were 17 years between their first gathering and their final settlement in Utah.

No. Nat Turner led a slave uprising and rebellion in Virginia in the summer of 1831 that resulted in several hundreds of slaves and free blacks being beaten and killed, and laws being passed throughout the south prohibiting slaves and free blacks from receiving an education or gathering in any sort of assembly without a white man present. He was killed shortly after the rebellion. Chances are, Nat Turner never even heard of the Mormons, who started in New York in 1830. Their missionaries had not reached Virginia by 1831, and certainly had not reached any slaves. The Mormons generally only baptized free blacks.
