There were "seven" seals on the book [or 'scroll'] that Jesus took from the "right hand" of His Father, sitting on His throne in heaven [Rev.5:1-7].

ALL SEVEN ARE OPENED by the end of Revelation.

SIX of these seals were opened in the 6th chapter of Revelation... leaving 12 of the remaining 22 chapters [some of which are inset chapters] of Revelation devoted to the SEVENTH seal. Which is opened beginning with chapter eight.

The SEVENTH seal represents the "Day of the Lord"... or the "Day of Christ" -- the final phase of God plan in which Jesus Christ returns to earth to establish God's Kingdom here.

"Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to Him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us - whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter - asserting that the Day of the Lord has already come. Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that Day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed..." (II Thess.2:1-3 NIV).

The SEVENTH seal is composed of "TWO SETS of sevenplagues of God": seven TRUMPETS [the last of which is when Jesus returns; 'at the last trump' - see I Cor.15:52; I Thess.4:16; Matt.24:31 & Rev.11:15].

And "seven VIAL plagues" -- the last of God's wrath "poured out" on the earth [chapter 16], just prior to His final descent onto the earth with His army of angels, "making war" against the errant rule of man's governments; and removing Satan the Devil from influencing the nations on earth for a thousand years [chapters 19 & 20].

All seven seals are "prophecies" regarding the return of Jesus Christ [which hasn't happened yet; review again II Thessalonians 2:1-3, above].

The first four seals have been opened and active on the earth since the beginning of man's existence -- false religions, wars, famines, diseases, earthquakes, etc..

But the last three seals haven't, yet.

Seal 5: the Great Tribulation... the unprecedented end time global distress [see Matt.24:21-22] toward which the first four seals have been leading and building up to through man's advancing technologies and ever more efficient war-making and death-dealing capabilities.

Seal 6: the Heavenly Signs... that God will bring about to "cut the Great Tribulation short," so that man doesn't destroy the earth and all life on it [see again Matthew's verses above; plus verse 29].

Seal 7: the Day of the Lord... Jesus' return with the Kingdom of God, the preservation of the earth... and the Salvation of mankind [close on the heels of seals 5 & 6; see Matt.24:30-31].

Jesus "stripped away" all seven seals from the scroll in Revelation. The prophecies are written... God's servants are informed and forewarned as to what's coming on the earth [see Rev.1:1]. But not all of them have come to pass... yet.
