Answer 1

because religions (especially Islam) have certain program for salvation and they demand their followers to act according to the program. If some action of human being wants to come from his wishes, he needs to believe in it. and belief is hundred percent confidence about some issue. as if someone wants to follow any religions he should have some special beliefs and doctrine.

Another point is that, we can not chose some beliefs to follow and reject others. I mean self service religion can not work because we have no complete knowledge about the reality of this world and hear-after. as a result if we want to achieve salvation we need to follow a religion as a complete package.

Answer 2

It depends entirely on the religion. Most monotheistic religions have a very complete and elaborate set of beliefs and the subscription to these is paramount for God's good graces. Judaism and Islam additionally have a complex Religious Law that determines the daily actions of the follower and whose compulsion is mandatory. Many polytheistic religions, such as Hinduism and Buddhism, may have a certain set of critical beliefs, but are often dependent on the local traditions and folklore more than any overriding concepts or Pantheon. Most aboriginal and Native American religions are even less strict, positing that values themselves are more important than particular creeds or religious laws.
