Christianity has changed the world in countless ways. Christianity has influenced, for example, politics in many aspects. "Under god" is read in the Pledge of Allegiance and citizens make oaths on The Bible. It even goes further back to the Roman Empire and Constantine. These are just some of the plentiful examples that exist of how Christianity has changed the world.
The impact is far reaching and difficult to verbalize in a few short paragraphs. Around 4BC Jesus is alleged to be born, this was during a time when Christianity had split from traditional Judaic beliefs, and the birth of a Messiah was critical to the newly form religion. Rome was the central power of the time and many Christians and Jews considered this rule to be tyranical. The Jesus figure galvanized a movement that led to the attack on the money market and the alleged crucification on the Jesus character. This set the stage for a long drawn out battle between sects of Christianity that lay claim that Jesus did not exist. Rome eventually fell for a vast variety of reasons and much of the Catholic Church today is a direct result of the long term interaction between Rome and the Roman Catholic Church. Much of what we see today in celebration and holidays is a result of this interaction. The number of wars based on religion is long and the death toll high, each of these conflicts shaped the current geo-political divisions we see today. Most noteably is the conflict between Muslims and Christians with many others also caught in the conflict. Much of the modern conflict we have and will have is based on the alleged birth of Jesus and will continue to influence the world stage in the forseeable furture. The impact of this character influences nearly everything in our modern society, and has had a deep and lasting impact on the United States as exemplified by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Declaration of Independence. Much of this influence has caused great conflict on the political spectrum and includes such issues as abortion, right to life, the death penality, gay marriage and prayer in school.
Christianity changed the world because if Jesus wouldn't have died on the cross for our sins, our world would be living in a very sinful world. Jesus died on the cross so he would be able to forgive all of our sins. so, Christianity changed the world because he died for us and because of that we can be forgivin and not live in a sinful world.
AnswerChristianity changed the world by slaughtering and enslaving innocent humans who were non-Christians. They forcibly converted these colored people and those who resisted were tortured and terrorized. They forced their beliefs upon their helpless victims treating them like their property and worst than animals. They invaded their lands destroyed their cultures and plundered their resources (Africans, Native Americans, Asians). The Christian religion gives everyone the chance to have life in relationship with God. Over two billion people are now Christians, which is more than twice as many as any other religion.
Over the centuries the religion has had an immense and varied impact on the world depending on whether the people are true followers of Christ or people who have used the name of the religion for their own purposes.
Christianity has inspired great art and architecture and has led people to great good works and self-sacrifice. It has also been used by people to enforce their authority and to 'justify' their own evil. It has brought peace and it has brought war, it has brought enlightenment and at times it has kept people in ignorance. It has brought truth and it has denied truth.
The only important and real impact of the Christian religion is the impact it has on the lives of true believers. When Christ comes into your life he sets you free from slavery to sin and brings you true peace, joy and love. He gives you a new life where all the past is forgiven and you can start again with him as your guide
Not as great as many Christians would like.
In our post-modern society, the past impact of the Crusades seem to dim the truth and light of christianity. They distorted the message of christianity and used religion to pursue carnal goals.
The impact of Christianity on world history is huge. Our very calendars were set to indicate how long it has been since Christ's birth, although the humans who calculated it may have been mistaken. Christianity, through both the good deeds of Christ's followers and the mistakes of those who profess to believe have affected many many events throughout the world since the time of Christ.
