Answer from a Roman Catholic who is a convertI know that Catholicism is "right" because it is the Church that Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit founded and guaranteed to be with it until the end of time.

Because Jesus chose Peter, and his successors to be His Vicars on earth and send the apostles, and their successors out into the world to bring Him to the world, and the world to Him. Because I trust that God doesn't make mistakes, and that what He said He would do, He will do.

I was baptised in a Methodist Church, my mother's family church, then I was brought up in a Lutheran Church - the "compromise" church of my Catholic father and Methodist mother. Then in seventh grade Confirmation class, I paid attention and realized that Martin Luther was one seriously misled individual. I joined the Episcopal Church, and was subsequently confirmed in that church. But as I prayed, and studied, and I realized that all those churches that I had been brought up in and educated in had been formed by men many centuries after Jesus died. I read the Scriptures, and prayed; and it became rather clear that Jesus only founded one Church, that He guaranteed that the one Church would be IT until the end of time and It only would he remain with and guard from all error.

Because I trust Jesus Christ a lot more than I trust Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, Martin Luther, John Calvin, or any of the other individuals who thought they knew better than the Holy Spirit. Because I can read about this ONE religion in the Bible from It's start back then, and go up the road to a Church for Mass - to the very same religion that it is talking about, the same religion that Paul preached and that Peter wrote about.

That is why I know that the Catholic religion is right, because God would not lie to me, but men would for whatever reasons they may have, and when it comes to my eternal salvation, and that of my family; and to the love of my Blessed Lord, I am going to trust His Word, not those of dissatisfied people that lived fifteen centuries after He walked this earth.

Answer:

At present there is no religin-o-meter to determine the comparative rightness of any religion. Adherents to any faith will advocate their own and denigrate others to a greater or lesser extent. The only consideration is whether it feels right for you. The process for this is decision is arbitrary and ranges from trying them all to chosing one and working tho convince yourself that it is the right one.

Faith is believing what you know ain't so?

Faith is FAITH: Full Assurance In The Heart. Belief is something different. When you believe in something, you believe, but you are not absolutely sure about your beliefs. And that belief doesn't translate into an action of faith. What is faith? It is belief in action. When belief grows, it becomes faith. When we have faith, we surrender, we surrender to the Divine will. We accept the Divine will. When we believe, we live with hope. HOPE is Having Only Positive Expectations but when we have faith, it means our belief has graduated, evolved, gone further and become stronger.

Is Faith Just Wishful Thinking?

Faith is believing in something that you don't yet see and believing that it will come to past without doubting. Wishing is just that. It's like a genie in a bottle. It won't happen by just wishing it will. There has to be some work. Faith without works is dead faith. Faith is not about I wish I had and poof it's there.

What is a virtue on believing?

In my opinion to the question on the virtue on believing, I would say that the virtue is faith. Faith is the substance of what we do NOT see, therefore, we believe only because of our faith. Bible is a great place to begin a search. I do believe that this is the greatest books EVER written.

As a christian I cant say weather he should quit. But what I do know is that God has a plan for every thing, and if this boy has a faith crisis he should pray that god will show him that even in times of crisis there is hope. And God will never leave him. Even if he stops believing! ♥ But he should keep the Faith no matter what ♥
