Woodrow Wilson
The Missionary Diplomacy
President Wilson believed in protecting democracy where it already existed rather than seeking to expand it as past presidents had. This was known as Wilsonianism. He found this easier to believe in principle than to put in action.
Missionary diplomacy was used by Woodrow Wilson during the years as president, it was a type of diplomacy that spread Christianity. This also was a Corrollary to the Monroe Doctrine, which stated that Europe should stay out of Latin America.
It was termed "Missionary Diplomacy". Fancy name to outright interventionism, by the way.
It attempted to use force to bring democracy to certain countries.
It was called missionary diplomacy.
The dollar diplomacy was more straight forward, he didn't need to look for excuses to take actions whereas with the missionary diplomacy he had to wait for an excuse in which he used US sailors getting arrested tampico. Even though they were released soon after Wilson still took advantage of it and used it and more then 200 Mexicans died and 18 Americans. this had brought Mexico and the US close to war.
The work of Mary Slessor was that of a missionary. She was a missionary in Nigeria from Scotland. She taught in the mission station among other missionary works.
