Jehovah's Witnesses grew from a small group of bible students in America that were seeking answers from scripture free from the dogma of church tradition.
Well, first you would have to have a free bible study with Jehovah's Witnesses. When you talk to them they'll explain it to you in detail.
Many would say they are. Quite a few witnesses say "They are glad they are" because before they became JWs their brain was full of dirty thoughts etc. and their brains needed washing! In reality, it takes a huge amount of study to become a witness and they enter and get baptized of their own free will. Many highly intelligent people are witnesses. So the objective answer is no they are not.
Any Jehovah's Witness you meet can get one to you. An e version is available at the related link.
One person might say YES; another person might say NO. Both would give some valid sounding reason. What does it matter what others say? Why not study the Bible yourself first, then you don't have to rely on someone else to say yes or no. Jehovah's Witnesses will study the Bible with you, one-on-one, for FREE. We have perfected such a free Bible Study Course. After that you'll be in a better position to help you decide.
John 17:3 Tells us how to do this. Getting to know the true God and his son. We do this by reading the Bible and following the counsel in it. You can visit the website for Jehovah's Witnesses and request a FREE in home Bible study and someone will come by at a place and time convenient to you.
Absolutely! First of all, they are FREE studies. They are set up at a time and place for your own convenience and you can choose how in depth of a study you want. If you only want to spend 15 minutes once a week, they will be happy to accommodate you. They are an excellent way to learn about the Bible, no matter if you know a little about the Bible or you have been reading it for years. Some people request that their study use only the Bible, which is acceptable. Students are encouraged to use their own personal Bible or they can receive a free copy of the Bible. Although Jehovah's Witnesses use other publications to help them learn about the Bible, they regard the Bible as the supreme authority. Daily Bible study is encouraged for all Jehovah's Witnesses, so they are very happy to be able to help you establish a better understanding of the Holy Scriptures. You can learn about their Bible study programs and request a free home Bible study on their official website at jw.org.
A good site that offers free Bible study lessions is Bible.org. It is a great site and has everything you will need for your daily needs.
There are several online communities where you can get together with others and study the bible or follow a plan and study by yourself. These courses can be accessed whenever you feel, so how many times and when you study is up to you. Here is one of the many free online bible schools I found: http://www.amazingfacts.org/free-stuff/bible-studies/free-online-bible-school.aspx
One of the best home Bible study software options is Logos Bible Software which can be found at www.logos.com/. It offers you all of the study tools you need. Other options include Parsons Bible Study Software (www.quickverse.com), Bible Explorer (which is free at www.bible-explorer.com), PC Bible Study (www.biblesoft.com) and Bible Works (www.bibleworks.com/).
You can read the Bible online free or download a copy from the attached link "Read the Bible" What's great is that you can listen to it at the same time, which is wonderful because of the hard words and names to read. You can also request a free Bible study from the link: "Request free Bible Study". They will provide you with a free Bible.
I could be mistaken, but I believe Bible study is free to anyone interested. Off the top of my head I would recommend speaking to a clergy member for starters and then maybe contacting local study groups.
