The doctrine of the Trinity is a major tenet of some Christian faiths; it basically states that both Jesus and God, along with the Holy Spirit, are the same thing, yet somehow unique.

Christian theologians call it a mystery beyond the ability of humans to comprehend, although the ancient Egyptian gods could be the same in far more complex ways than the Christian Holy Trinity. The Hindu godhead is remarkably similar to the Trinity, but also more complex and incomprehensible. Perhaps it is the nature of religion to develop concepts that challenge the understanding of common people.
