There are some verses in The Bible which Muslims claim are prophecies related to Muhammad; Deuteronomy 18:15-18; John 14:16, 15:26, and 16:7.

Emphatically NO, regardless of the ideas/interpretations of mankind. The Bible is the Word of God and speaks of God's Plan to save mankind through His only begotten Son (at this time), Jesus Christ.

A New Testament perspective:Yes, the Bible predicts the rise of Islam. See verses such as Matthew 7:15 and 24:24; Galatians 1:6-9 and 1 John 4:1, among others.

Paul's statement in Galatians 1 is the most striking predictor of Islam, when he speaks of "an angel from heaven" preaching "any other gospel."

Note:

Angels are spirits and not part of mankind. Satan is the angel that preaches another gospel and deceives many people to do the same as the 'god' of this world.

God isn't interested in the "false religions" of this world... except to warn His people to STAY AWAY FROM THEM:

"Thou shalt have no other gods before Me." (Deut.5:7 KJV)

This is Commandment number one... top of the list... man's first duty in this life:

"...Fear God and obey His Commandments, for THIS IS THE DUTY OF EVERY PERSON..." (Eccle.12:13 NLT)

"You must fear the LORD your God and serve Him. When you take an oath, you must use ONLY HIS NAME. You must NOT WORSHIP any of the gods of neighboring nations, for the LORD your God, who Lives among you, is a jealous God. His anger will flare up against you and wipe you from the face of the earth." (Deut.6:13:15 NLT New Living Translation)

Only in the most general terms does our Creator warn mankind [in general; and His Faithful servants, specifically] to steer clear of this world's religions and its many gods.

"Islam," as one of this world's many religions, isn't specifically referred to in the Bible. But then... neither are all the more than 400 denominations of modern professing Christianity; except for Jesus' warning to His disciples to beware of it, also:

"Jesus told them, 'Don't let anyone mislead you. For many will come in My Name, saying, ''I am the Messiah.'' THEY WILL LEAD MANY ASTRAY.' (Matt.24:4-5 NLT)

Of course the world doesn't grasp what Christ is saying... because the world has been "led astray" by its god, Satan the Devil; the designer of this world's governments, societies, systems and religions.

Islam is a religion founded by the descendant of "Ishmael," Abraham's firstborn son borne by Hagar, his wife, Sarah's, handmaid.

It was through "Isaac," the children of his son, Jacob [Israel], however... his only son by his own wife, through whom the Commandments, the covenant and Promises of God were passed. Not through Ishmael:

"...I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father... because that Abraham obeyed My voice, and kept My charge, MY COMMANDMENTS, My statutes, and My laws." (Gen.26:3-5 KJV)

Our Creator isn't interested in this world's religions. Nor does He endorse any of them. He's interested in all of His people seeking and learning to become His Loving, Obedient Children, by obeying His Ten Commandments: LOVE GOD and LOVE ONE ANOTHER!

There's nothing religious about that. It's just good, logical common sense, if mankind is to pass into the next phase of [ETERNAL] Life.

The Bible predicts hardship, suffering and misery in this world due to all of this world's false religions, that "worship other gods" and fail to heed His voice. That FAIL TO LOVE, HONOR, OBEY AND RESPECT HIM AND ONE ANOTHER.

That's really the only "religion" God commands His Children to observe:

"Pure and lasting religion IN THE SIGHT OF GOD our Father means that WE MUST CARE FOR ORPHANS AND WIDOWS IN THEIR TROUBLES, and REFUSE TO LET THE WORLD CORRUPT US." (James 1:27 NLT)

God doesn't predict this religion... nor does it fit the description of any of this world's religions. God COMMANDS His servants to LIVE this religion... to bear this fruit in their lives.

God didn't predict a "religion" to come of Ishmael's descendants... but He did prophesy of him:

"...You are to name him Ishmael, for the LORD has heard about your misery. This son of yours will be A WILD ONE - free and untamed as a wild donkey! HE WILL BE AGAINST EVERYONE, and EVERYONE WILL BE AGAINST HIM. Yes, HE WILL LIVE AT ODDS WITH THE REST OF HIS BROTHERS." (Gen.16:11-12 NLT)

Ishmael's "brothers" [besides those his mother Hagar bore later in life] were also ISAAC, ESAU, JACOB, etc., who are also his father Abraham's sons!

"As for Ishmael, I will bless him also, just as you have asked. I will cause him to multiply and become a great nation. Twelve princes will be among his descendants. But my covenant is with Isaac..." (Gen.17:20-21 NLT)

These are the predictions in the Bible regarding Ishmael, the father of the people who adopted the Muslim religion. It's not a "religious" prophecy... its a NATIONAL one.

AnswerThe Bible does not mention Muslims nor Islam, and could not have done so, because it was written long before the founding of Islam.

However, there is a trick that seems to come naturally to Christians when studying the Bible. One can ask any question of the Bible and get some kind of answer. At first the study of a text may not seem to support the answer one hopes to find in the Bible, but with a little ingenuity, one can set up the comparison again with other emphases and make the answer come out. This may be a Christian trick, one that Burton L. Mack sees happen all the time in the classrooms of the School of Theology at Claremont, but it can equally be used by Muslims to 'prove' that Islam really was mentioned in the Bible.
