Yes. Adam and Eve started it, when they chose to obey "that old Serpent" ["...called the Devil and Satan..." - Rev.12:9 & 20:2]. The world has been worshiping and obeying him and breaking the First Commandment ever since.

"...and all the world... worshipped the Dragon..." (Rev.13:3-4).

Additional Comment:

Since the beginning, most everyone (in the Scripture or not) has broken the 1st Command 'to have no other god' but the great Creator God.

The First Commandment warns us not to accept a religion or philosophy that teaches that our life and well-being originate with or depend on anything other than the one true God. There is no pantheon of deities. There is no other source of life or blessings but God. There is no other power that rules over the heavens and the earth. "Indeed heaven and the highest heavens belong to the Lord your God, also the earth with all that is in it" (Deuteronomy 10:14). He alone created and sustains the universe in which we exist.

Putting anyone or anything above Almighty God, breaks this command. Whether believing in Evolution or loving money more breaks this command.
