Thomas Edison has been called an atheist but that is not exactly accurate. He could more accurately be described as a freethinker. He believed in the existence of a supreme intelligence that rules all matter in the universe: Nature. He believed that nature made us; there is no afterlife; no gods of any religions are responsible for human destiny. See the related link for some interesting Edison quotes on religion.
