by keeping his commandments
Additional thoughts:
As mentioned above, Jesus taught us to love God by his WORD (John 14:30+31)and by his EXAMPLE.(1 John 5:3)
Jesus loved his father and, infact, taught that the 'greatest commandment' is to LOVE GOD (Matthew 22:36-38) above all else. Jesus said: "The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength...." (Mark 12:29+30 KJV)(Luke 10:27) . It was important to Jesus that God's name be treated with respect (Matthew 6:9) and his zeal for his father's commandments was a fulfillment of prophecy (John 2:17/Psalm 69:9)
Jesus also gave examples of those who did NOT love God(Matthew 13:13-15), and he set the example of how and why we SHOULD love God, by the way he lived his life.(John 4:34/John 6:38)
This is mentioned by Paul at Romans 5:1-11 which shows it was God's love for US that caused him to send Jesus in the first place (1 John 2:1-6) so that we might have a peaceful relationship with our creator and a hope for the future. (Romans 8:35-39)(Ephesians 2:1-7)(1 John 4:7-16)(1 John 5:1-5). Jesus was obedient to God in everything(John 5:19+30/John 8:28/John 12:49), allowing himself to be mistreated in order to fulfill his father's purposes for him (Matthew 26:67+68/Matthew 27:26-38/Mark 14:65/Mark 15:15-20/John 19:1,as prophesied at Isaiah 53:7)and he said that God is good, worthy of our love. (Mark 10:18 KJV) He loved and trusted his father through his life, death and resurrection (Acts 3:15/Hebrews 2:9+10/Hebrews 5:7) and because of his love and respect for his father, he will complete his assignment and then ultimately subject everything, including himself, to God (1 Corinthians 15:24-28).
Answer:I cannot recall any place in The Bible when Jesus taught us to love OURSELVES.
But He did command us to love God and to love others.
he teaches us how to love
At Mark 12:31 Jesus is telling us to love our neighbor or everyone around us as ourselves. This is a command given by Jesus himself.
Christianity teaches that we ought to "love our neighbors as ourselves" and treat them as we ourselves would like to be treated.
You can't. But Jesus wants us to love God with all our hearts and then to love one another as we do ourselves. These things will please Jesus. Live don't worship.
He told us to "Love others as well as you love yourself." (Mark 12:31)
he wants us all to learn and love him.
jesus teaches us htis beacause he want to make us be like him
Jesus taught us to love, even our enemies , and to forgive again and again. And believe that Jesus died for our sins.
Forgiveness is walking in Love, which is the fullfilling of the Law-Romans 13
Yes; indirectly when he told us to love our neighbour as ourselves, (Luke 10.27). You can't bully when you keep his commandments.
By word and deed Jesus showed the world how to live so as to achieve eternal life with Him. From the gospels He told us the two most important things in life should be to love God with our whole heart and soul and then to love others as we do ourselves, a concept that seems simple in theory yet can be difficult at times to live it. And it follows that if we love God as we should we will obey His laws, the commandments.
Jesus said a lot about the golden rule. He taught us THE OUR FATHER “ forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”
