There are many examples of this. One example is as follows: In Genesis 47:31 it says "...then Israel prostrated himself towards the head of the bed" That is the simple reading of the verse, Pshat.

The Medrash is considered part of drash. The Medrash (quoted by Rav Shlomo Yitzchaki, known as Rashi) explains that he 'turned himself to the side of the Shechina'. Then Rashi quotes a Gemara that therefor we see that the Shechina is above the head of someone who is sick. That is Drash.

This is one of the many examples of Pshat and Drash.

There is Something Called PaRDeS. It stands for:

Pshat - The simple reading of the Torah.

Remez - Such as using the values of letters to compare multiple words or things.

Drash - This is the Medrash.

Sod - A very complicated and mystical way of understanding the Torah.
