The Scripture mentions the seven days of the week by number - with the 7th day being a sabbath day of rest which eventually got its name from this rest. The days of the week that we currently use are primarily from Greco-Roman, Germanic concepts.
It is interesting to consider how we came up with this 7-day cycle. The length of a year is determined by how long it takes Earth to make a complete revolution around our Sun. The month is based on the time it takes our Moon to complete its cycle. And a day the time the Earth takes to complete a rotation on its axis. But the week was given to mankind by God.
Of course there are 'theories' to explain how the week originated other than The Bible but they aren't very convincing: 'Divided Lunar Cycle and the Visible Celestial Bodies' theories to mention just two I know of. But since the week is completely undeterred by seasons, tides, orbits or any other external, natural event, it obvious the week originated from a 'higher' source.
