Most Muslims do have mustaches... the prophet (peace be upon him) had a mustache but he trimmed it to keep clean (when a mustache gets long, food particles get stuck in it and it's gross)... so some Muslims, instead of just trimming it, shave the mustache all together... but the majority of Muslims today don't completely shave the mustaches.

Keeping a beard is a sign of Virility, it is encouraged in Islam, but the mustache is to be cut for cleanliness reasons, coz food or so can hold within, so Muslims are encouraged to cut it short, but many prefer to shave it to save time cutting it short every day.

The same reason Christians and Jews wear beards.

Answer:

While it is not obligatory for a Muslim man to grow a beard there is a considerable amount of tradition and social acceptance of the practice. In the Islamic tradition, God commanded Abraham to keep his beard. All Muslim scholars view keeping a beard as being at least commendable for men as it follows the example of Muhammad and the prophets, and most consider it obligatory.

as muslim women have physical hijab (the headscarf), so do the men (keeping of their beards). Hijab is compulsory on both genders, but the individual chooses when he/she wears it. No one can be forced. Hijab is worn in order to please Allah (God), and to guide their modesty and preserve themselves for their spouses. Tight, short, transparent or revealing clothes are not allowed in Public. However they can dress in any thing when they are in the comfort of their own homes or with their spouses. They do not have to wear hijab in front of their direct family members (excluding cousins, second relatives or extended relatives) men and women alike; also young children with no sexaual desires.
