The bible does not mention anything about "near death experiences", but the are many things that the bible is silent on. Perhaps these things happen. Who's to say?

Answer:

It seems today, many people are fascinated with the 'phenomenon' of this so-called 'near death experience.' Yet the Scripture is silent on this scenario and rather is explicit on calling death a 'great sleep.' Yes, there are examples of people being 'resurrected' back to life after they had died - some for several days or more - but none discuss what some today describe as their experiences going to the 'other side.'

Some people would say the Apostle Paul was describing such an event in his own life in 2 Corinthians 12:1-4 -similar to what some people describe as a near-death experience. But a proper reading of this letter in its context would show Paul was only describing a dream-like state or a vision he had. There are many instances where Paul describes death as sleeping. Here is one example:

1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

New International Version (NIV)

Believers Who Have Died

13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.

14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

So other than the one example of Paul's noted above in 2 Corinthians, the Bible is silent on near death experiences. Clearly, the Scripture uses the analogy of sleeping to describe the state of death for all - even Jesus was dead for 3 full days and nights. And Christ, Himself, describes death as sleeping in this example of His friend Lazarus' death:

John 11:11-14

New International Version (NIV)

11 After he had said this, he went on to tell them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up."

12 His disciples replied, "Lord, if he sleeps, he will get better." 13 Jesus had been speaking of his death, but his disciples thought he meant natural sleep.

14 So then he told them plainly, "Lazarus is dead,

In summary then, NDEs are a recent phenomena of mankind in their vain attempt to describe the accounts of many who have claimed to have similar experiences - some pleasant and some unpleasant. Interestingly, a "Dr. Sam Parnia, Director of the Awareness during Resuscitation Study is the author of the ground-breaking book Erasing Death: The Science That Is Rewriting the Boundaries Between Life and Death . Now, he concludes that death is a process that can be interrupted well after it has begun. Dr. Parnia claims that many near-death experiences may just be the function of the human brain while still working after the heart and lungs have stopped." The Bible does not directly address near-death experiences in the way they are commonly understood today. However, some interpret certain passages as alluding to experiences that may align with aspects of NDEs, such as descriptions of visions or being caught up to heaven. Overall, beliefs about NDEs are often influenced by individual interpretations of religious texts.

Who seen a bright ball of light after death?

Many people who have had near-death experiences (NDEs) report seeing a bright ball of light. This light is often described as warm, inviting, and comforting, leading some to interpret it as a symbol of divine presence or a spiritual transition. However, experiences during NDEs can vary greatly among individuals.

What is NDES short for?

NDES is short for the National Discharge Elimination System

Does Colton's description of heaven fit your own conception of heaven?

Yes! Colton Burpo's heavenly description match what thousands of others say. These many witnesses have had what are called Near Death Experiences (NDEs) which allowed them to leave bodies for a short time. The Documentary the Search For Heaven is a great place to start researching these phenomena. L.A. Marzuli also does an excellent interview with a NDE researcher who has compiled data on thousands of NDEs.

What is the term for someone who dies and then comes back?

People who have clinically died and then have a return of vital signs are said to have had a near death experience, or NDE. NDEs are more common than most people think, with many people not reporting their experience because of fear of labeled as 'nuts' or delusional. The majority of those who do report NDEs have similar stories. These similarities cross gender, cultural, and socio-economic boundaries, lending some level of credence to their reports. Skeptics will say that near death experiences are chemical reactions within the brain, and the out of body experience survivors relate are simply manifestations of endorphins, medications, or lack of oxygen. What the skeptics cannot account for is the cross cultural similarities in the experiences. th International Association for Near Death Studies is an excellent resource for people who have had a NDE, or those interested in learning more.

Does a near death experience change the person's idea of death?

Typically, yes. This is if the near death experience, or 'NDE', was one that the survivor could recall and come to terms with. Most NDEs will result in brain damage or severe disability due to their very nature. Despite popular culture, few NDEs survivors are able to retell their experiences. However! Dr. Sam Parnia's fascinating book 'What Happens When We Die' suggests most survivors that experienced an NDE experience strong emotions and gratitude when they recall their experience. It might be argued that anyone that had been 'near' death would do this given the circumstances. Most survivors become more spiritual, relaxed, but interestingly less religious in the sense they cannot confirm to any one set of beliefs. NDEs are usually a positive experience that leaves the survivor feeling reassured and less fearful of their ultimate fate. Since they feel that cannot understand their experience, they become more open-minded and less sceptical of all beliefs. A.J. Ayer, a British logical positivist philosopher was a famous atheist who had an NDE and was remarked to have questioned everything he had ever said about life after death. Some say this is not really what happened though - yet he was recorded to say he is no longer as certain as he once was, and hopes that death IS the end for him.

What does the Bible say about out of body experiences i had surgery jan-23-2012 my heart stopped i seen flowers and it was warm and sunny i could not touch the flowers they would move?

The Bible speaks of dreams, visions, and revelations that people have had, or thought they were having at the time, from Genesis onward - from the Patriarchs to the Apostles - all having a form of communication with God. But not all of these are truly from God as the god of this world uses the 'power of the air' to touch our minds with thoughts which naturally make us dream. But in the last days, more dreams and visions will come from God as Peter tells us quoting Joel 2:28-31:New King James Version (NKJV)16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:17 'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,Your young men shall see visions,Your old men shall dream dreams.18 And on My menservants and on My maidservantsI will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy.Today, some scientist have determined that most of the 'near-death experiences of seeing lights and other things, is just a normal 'protective' function of our human minds/brains preparing for shutdown. But in effect, it is up to the individual to believe or not as they alone had the experience.Answer:The Bible says that "the dead have no thought processes... and know nothing" [Eccle.9:5 & 10]. According to the Bible, death is a dormant, unconscious, dreamless "sleep" from which man will awaken one day in a resurrection."...Lazarus has fallen asleep... Lazarus is dead..." (John 11:11-14 NIV), Jesus says.Therefore... the "dream" you experienced while in surgery, according to the Bible was just that -- a dream.Dreams seem quite real to us... yet, like your "moving flowers," certain physical aspects of reality tend to recede and distance themselves from us as our sleeping legs and arms aren't really moving, walking or running [i.e. trying to run in a dream results in the feeling of one's legs pinned to the ground].Paul had a dream which he recorded in the Bible that was real enough to him, also."I must go on boasting. Although there is nothing to be gained, I will go on to visions [dreams] and revelations from the Lord. I know a man in Christ [speaking of himself] who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven [again, in his vision]. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know-- God knows." (II Cor.12:1-2 NIV)Paul says the vision he had was real enough to him. So, real that he wouldn't verify that he didn't really experiencegoing to the "third heaven" of the Father's throne.Instead... he left it for God to determine. And the Bible [God's Word] does indeed make that determination for us, that we can know. Paul knew the answer, also, as no one knew the scriptures better than he at that time. He knew exactly what God says about the dream he had.Paul states that the "dreamer" was "a man in Christ" [a man of God] -- and God has this to say about that:"...Listen to My Words: 'When a prophet of the LORD is among you, I reveal Myself to him in visions, I speak to him in dreams. But this is not true of My servant Moses... With him I speak face to face..." (Num.12:6-8 NIV).While the Bible doesn't address the specific dream you had in surgery, and it doesn't appear to be one of God revealing Himself or speaking directly to you in your dream -- from the various Truths revealed in the Bible discussed here; one thing is certain: Since it was a dream you were having during surgery... your "thought processes" were active and functioning -- the Truth revealed in the Bible makes it abundantly clear, therefore, that you were at the very least -- NOT dead.Answer:The Bible says little if anything about what occurs during a NDE. Though many Christians claim to have experienced this phenomenon, we are hard pressed to enlist biblical accounts with which to draw similarities to NDEs. Many NDE advocates turn to the Bible to support their interpretations of this phenomenon. The biblical event that New Age writers frequently try to link with NDEs is taken from Acts 9:3-6 and 26:12-23, which respectively relate Paul's encounter with Christ on the road to Damascus and Paul's own account of his experience.

Who is in hell now?

Recently a young girl from Ecuador claimed to have gone to hell with Christ and He gave her a tour. She said she saw a pope, some of her relatives, Selena (latin singer) and Michael Jackson. Whether she did or did not actually see these people, there is no way to tell. But from the many NDEs (near death experience) who say they saw hell while in medical crisis, they all claim that hell holds millions of lost souls, all in torment of various degrees. Those individuals that have a negative NDE, and claim to have seen Satan's domain, virtually all were forever changed. The screams of the damned was constant, the smell so vile as to make them want to vomit, the heat unbearable and the demons whose job it is to torment human souls, is without end.
