Robert Owen (1771 - 1858) was a social refomer and one of the founders of socialism and the co operative movement. He believed that no one was responsible for their own actions, it was the environment in which they lived which caused problems. As a result he supported education and labour reform and he had no time for religion, it made men weak and fanatical
