I think that the most obvious would be Margaret Thatcher. She was elected in 1979 because of her radical views and ideas. No other previous governments, Conservative or Labour, had attempted to win with such a manifesto. She abandoned the idea of consensus, tackled the left-wing trade unions, expanded Britain's financial sector and made buisnesses much more profitable. In doing so she reversed, or at least stopped, the decline of the British nation. Having beaten Argentina in the Falklnads War in 1982, this was a time of partiotism where people actually believed in Britan.
