there is a very thin line of difference between an autocracy and a monarchy. while monarchy and autocracy both primarily deal with rule of a single person ( someone like a king or country head) the lines of origin of the kings is stated to be different. this means that in a monarchy we talk about a lineage of rulers a royal family that rules over the country(where head of the family becomes the king)
in an autocracy there may exist a royal family but may not necessarily be in power. the power on the other hand may be executed by someone else who gained control over the territory. for example the age of conservatism that started after the treaty of Vienna made reps. of the Eurpean power(britain Russia prussia Austria) autocratic in their control
A Monarchy is when a country has a King or Queen. Autocracy is when there is a ruler with absolute power who does not need anyone else's approval to make laws. Monarchies can be autocratic, and traditionally were, but a country can have a monarch and a separate government. And an autocratic leader does not necessarily have to be a monarch.
Absolute monarchies, dictatorships & autocratic governments are similar in the fact that there is little debate at a national level with regards to the passing of legislation and other such activities/functions of the state. Although, these monarchies, etc may have advisors who have no executive power.
Absolute monarchy is most similar to which other system of government
