This is a highly debatable topic. Depeneding on the age of the zebra there are different numbers of stripes. In my recent studies I have found many different conspiracies when trying to find the ultimate number of stripes. I have ultimately come to conclusion that the number of mulars in a zebras mouth can conclude to its stripes. You take the number of teeth and multiply by 3, divide that by 6 then take that to the third power. Subtract the number of hoofs of the zebra and there you have it.
