To get rid of a Hackberry tree growing out of a hole in a Live Oak tree, carefully cut the Hackberry tree at ground level, ensuring to remove all roots. Monitor for regrowth and repeat if necessary. Be cautious to avoid damaging the Live Oak tree during this process.
Leaves of an oak tree fall off during summer because the oak tree is trying to save the water and minerals of the tree. i.e. the tree is trying to reduce the amount of transpiration which takes place through heavy sunlight. So by getting rid of leaves the amount of transpiration reduces and the oak tree won't die.
to eat aphids (aphids eat plants garderners use ladybirds to get rid of aphids all the time)
So happy ! I just cured my indoor basil plant which was suffering from white little aphids all over it!! All I did was dunk the stem and leaves of the plant into a solution of Oak leaves and water. I did this once a day for 2 days. ( 99.99% cure after the first dunk !) (I had a bunch of oak leaves which I had previously torn up in to shreds and soaked overnight in a large bowl of water .) Also I changed the plants location to the bathroom (away from 2 other plants it was with ?not sure if relevant??!)- Lawrence
Yes, planting chives in the garden helps get rid of aphids.Specifically, aphids disdain strongly aromatic plants. Alliums such as chives, garlic, leeks, onions and shallots fit the bill. They will be repugnant to such unlikeable pests as aphids, carrot flies, fruit tree borers, and weevils. They will limit the growth of the gardener's beans and peas - which therefore should not be planted companionably nearby - but protect roses from ants.
With an insecticide. Sevin is among the safest.
I usually just pull them up by the roots before they get too large.
Oaks drop their leaves in the Autumn except the Evergreen Oak (Quercus ilex) the evergreen oak.

If your oak is receiving summer water, gradually defrease the summer water util there is no more summer water, Lawn and drip irrigation are not good for oaks! If there are weeds growing under your oak tree, you will want to get rid of them fast, because weeds choke he life out of the oaks, but when you do get rid of the weeds, try not to disturb the soil too much. DO NOT fertiliize oak trees under any circumstances! Also, DO NOT spray fungicides or insecticides on oaks. There is a lot of good fungi on the oak that it needs to survive. DO NOT prune mature oad trees. Light pruning is ok, however, so you can walk under it, or so a limb is not in danger of falling on your house, car, or person. Remember that lots of birds best in cavities in dead branches.
It is possible this is Powdery Mildew. If required the treatment is to spray with Bordeaux mixture. This is an unsightly disease but not normally serious.
Lawn moths are related to aphids and typically fly at night. You can get rid of them by using pesticide with acephate in liquid and granule forms by following directions on the pesticide.
