dates only grow on palm trees that are supposed to and are usually called date palms or something to that effect so if the name date is not in the name it usually will not produce dates if you have the internet do research.there you go hope it helped homie.

palm denotes a particular type of tree with wide varieties. panamaram(in tamil) or karimpana(in malayalam) is one of such varieties.

its dates(fruit) is widely used both in TN (called "NONGU")and Keral.

All along NH 47 ,u can find vendors selling it for 3-4 rupees per nongu.

there is one variety in keral ,the leaf of which is used for elephants.

Dates are a fruit from a palm tree, but only a special kind of palm tree, a date palm. Your average palm tree you see as decoration or landscaping will not produce a date. So, a date tree is a palm tree, but not all palm trees are date trees.
