Not true. I was on a hike with the Native Plant Society this morning at the Ft. Pierce Inlet State Park on Florida's Atlantic Coast. The Park Ranger talked about the state tree, the Sable Palm. She pointed out the "trunk" was just hardened sponge with a plant at the top of the stalk. Technically the sable palm is a grass. My question is: are all palms then grass?
