∙ 15y agoMetal is a better conductor of heat than plastic, so it transfers heat more efficiently from the hot water to the surroundings, resulting in faster cooling. Plastic, on the other hand, is a poorer conductor of heat, so it retains heat better and slows down the cooling process.
Scissors are typically made of metal which is denser than water, so they usually sink rather than float in water. However, lightweight plastic scissors may float in water.
Objects that are denser than water or have spaces that allow water to fill in quickly would sink in water. Materials like lead, iron, and rocks are denser than water and will sink. Objects like wood or plastic may float depending on their density.
A plastic cup is a good conductor of heat, meaning it allows heat to transfer quickly out of the cup and into the water, helping it cool down faster. The plastic material also has less thermal mass than glass or ceramic, so it cools down faster itself, helping to cool the water more efficiently.
Metal spoons are better thermal conductors than plastic spoons. Metal materials, such as stainless steel or copper, are able to transfer heat more effectively than plastic materials, making metal spoons better suited for tasks that require heat conduction.
Replacing the metal knob with a plastic knob on an electron microscope would not fundamentally change the way the microscope functions. The plastic knob may be lighter or less durable than the metal one, but it should still allow for fine adjustments and control of the microscope's settings.
cars don't have plastic radiators, if they do the plastic would probably melt, and the compound of metal cools and heats quickly which is useful in cooling water.
A plastic cup holds more heat because plastic can't take out heat. Glass conducts heat away.
Water in a metal cup will freeze faster because metal conducts coldness and energy the most. trust me, I did a project with a metal, plastic, glass, and paper to see which cup would freeze the quickest. Hopefully this answer helped.
Metal is a good conductor of heat, so when a metal mug with warm water is exposed to a cooler environment, the metal quickly transfers heat away from the water. This rapid heat transfer causes the water to cool down quickly.
a styrofoam cup. i tried it on my science project
if it was a plastic bottom, it would melt. if it was a metal handle, it would burn you.
it would melt faster in a glass container faster.
The main advantage of having a holding tank that is made of plastic over metal ones would be that it would last longer. One that is made of metal could rust and corrode but a plastic one would not have those problems.
Cookers are made of metal because it withstands heat a lot better and does not melt like plastic would.
Back then they had pie dishes instead of these plastic frisbees. The plastic frisbees are more aerodynamic and are 'slicker' in design.
Heat from the pan would quickly heat up metal handles, and a cloth would be needed to prevent burning your hand when lifting the pan off the stove. Therefore, plastic or wood handle are used as both are poor conductors of heat.
