The compass would only be affected by a magnetic field. The charge on the balloon would not create the field unless there was a current flow. The charge on the balloon is called "static" because it doesn't flow.

A compass is not affected by the static charge from a negatively-charged balloon because the magnetism in the compass is much stronger than the static electric field produced by the balloon. The magnetic field of the Earth is what the compass needle aligns with, and this is not easily disrupted by static electricity.

Why doesnt a balloon pop when you put a skewer through it?

When you insert a skewer into a balloon, the material of the balloon stretches around the skewer, creating a seal that prevents the balloon from popping. The surface tension of the balloon also helps to keep it intact by distributing the force exerted by the skewer.

Why doesnt waterfilled balloon burst when heated?

The water inside the balloon acts as a heat sink, absorbing and distributing the heat throughout the water evenly. This prevents any one part of the balloon from reaching a temperature that would cause it to burst. Additionally, the balloon material is designed to stretch and expand without breaking under normal conditions.

Why doesnt a balloon float with your air?

A balloon does not float with your breath because the air you blow into it is denser than the surrounding air. To make a balloon float, you need to use a lighter gas, such as helium, which is less dense than the surrounding air and creates enough lift to keep the balloon suspended.

Why doesnt a compass needle point due north?

Because the geographical North (the point around which the Earth rotates) is in a different place to magnetic north.
