Magnetic compasses can give false readings due to interference from nearby magnetic or electronic sources, such as metal objects, electrical equipment, or magnets. These external influences can disrupt the Earth's magnetic field that the compass relies on for accurate navigation. Calibrating the compass and keeping it away from such sources can help reduce false readings.

Actually the compass needle should point to true north all the time - it's just that "true north" and "accepted human standard of the North Pole" aren't the same thing. Due to the currents in the earth's mantle, true north and true south can move around over time. The compass needle will point to where it is at currently, but this may not be where humans have agreed to called the location of the North Pole.

Answer

Because a compass needle aligns itself with the earth's magnetic field, which links Magnetic North and Magnetic South. These locations don't coincide with True North and True South (which lie along the earth's axis of rotation) and continuously shift position relative to True North and True South.

How physics is related to medicine?

Physics is related to medicine in various ways, such as in medical imaging techniques like MRI and X-rays, which rely on principles of electromagnetism and nuclear physics to produce images of the body. Additionally, concepts from physics like fluid dynamics are used to understand blood flow and cardiovascular health. Radiation therapy for cancer treatment also involves principles of physics to target and deliver precise doses of radiation to target tumors.
