Out of shock probably. Most people the first time they see a ghost or spirit, loose there breath because they are not expecting something like this to happen. Do I think it was because the ghost was doing it? Probably not. Did you see a real ghost? Again, who knows. Many claims investigative teams have researched into have been debunked. Disproved. So why? Out of shock, and because you were not expecting this spirit to show up in front of your eyes. IF you were a nonbeliever in ghosts before, definitely you would be pretty scared, and loose your breath. A long-gated gasp can make you loose your breath for several seconds, and you will most likely freeze in place, unable to move for several moments. Hope I've helped.

Experiencing fear or shock when seeing something unexpected, like a ghost, can trigger a fight-or-flight response in the body. This response can cause accelerated heart rate, rapid breathing, and feelings of breathlessness due to heightened levels of stress hormones like adrenaline.
