Some people say it is costly to maintain and change the battery banks. Others say that the solar panels will not provide the average demand for a year. I know that many power company's and big name ones will not allow this because they will lose money. The whole issue starts off with money and I bet if you and I started a power company we would not want to lose money to solar powered homes.

Solar cells currently have limitations in efficiency, energy storage, and cost that prevent them from meeting all of our energy needs. Additionally, they rely on sunlight availability and are not always consistent in providing energy, which can be problematic for meeting high energy demand. Research and development are ongoing to address these challenges and improve the viability of solar energy as a primary source.

Is solar energy same as solar cells?

Solar energy refers to the energy produced by the sun, while solar cells are devices that convert sunlight into electricity through a process called the photovoltaic effect. Solar cells are one technology used to harness solar energy and can be used in solar panels to generate electricity for various applications.

How do you compare fossil fuels and solar cells?

Fossil fuels are non-renewable sources of energy that release greenhouse gases when burned, contributing to climate change. Solar cells, however, use renewable energy from the sun to generate electricity without emitting greenhouse gases. While fossil fuels have a long history of use, solar cells are a cleaner and more sustainable alternative for meeting energy needs.

Do solar cells produce a lot of energy?

Solar cells can produce a significant amount of energy, but the amount varies depending on factors such as the size of the solar installation, the efficiency of the solar cells, and the amount of sunlight received. In sunny regions with proper installation, solar cells can generate a substantial amount of electricity.

What happens to the energy that is not usually transferred by the solar cells?

The energy that is not converted into electricity by solar cells is typically lost as heat. Solar cells are not 100% efficient at converting sunlight into electricity, so some energy is wasted in the form of heat as a byproduct of the conversion process.

What transformation of energy occur in solar cells?

In solar cells, the transformation of energy involves converting sunlight (solar energy) into electrical energy through the photovoltaic effect. When sunlight hits the solar panel, it excites the electrons in the semiconductor material, creating an electric current that can be used as electricity.

Which is efficient amorphous or crystalline solar cell?

As of 2007,* commercial amorphous Si solar cells convert about 8% of the solar energy that strikes them into electrical energy.* multicrystalline Si solar cells convert around 16% of the solar energy that strikes them into electrical energy* commercial single crystal Si solar cells convert about 22% of the solar energy that strikes them into electrical energy. So single crystal Si solar cells have the highest energy conversion efficiency. However, amorphous Si solar cells require less energy to produce and are less expensive than multicrystalline Si solar cells, which in turn require less energy to produce and are less expensive than single crystal Si solar cells. In some cases amorphous Si solar cells are more economically efficient (produce more power for the same initial price or initial investment in energy to produce).
