A vibration caused by an earthquake is called a seismic wave. These waves can be classified into three main types: primary (P) waves, secondary (S) waves, and surface waves. Seismic waves carry the energy of the earthquake and can cause significant shaking and damage.

There are different types of waves that come from an earthquake. When an earthquake happens from the breaking of the rock, it send out vibrational tremors called P-waves, this is the first part of the earthquake that is felt. The next waves to be felt are the S-waves. The S-waves can last for a number of times.

(p-waves = Primary waves)

(S-waves = Secondary waves).

The vibrations caused by an earthquake are known as seismic waves.

These can be split into two types, surface and body waves.

Surface waves travel only through the crust and there are two main types:

  • Rayleigh waves
  • Love waves

These surface waves tend to be the most damaging and are usually responsible for the damage caused by an earthquake.

The second group of seismic waves are known as body waves and travel through the Earth's interior:

  • P-waves
  • S-waves

It causes and earthquake

True or false the vibration caused by an earthquake are rated on the Richter scale?

False. The magnitude of earthquakes is rated on the Richter scale, not the vibration caused by the earthquake. The Richter scale measures the energy released by an earthquake at its source.

The earthquake caused the ground to shake with intense vibrations.

Is an earthquake any seismic vibration of earth caused by the slow release of energy?

False. An earthquake is a seismic wave caused by a sudden release of energy.

What do you call the vibration which occurs after main earthquake?

The earthquakes after a major earthquake in the same area are called aftershocks.

A movement or vibration in earth?

An earthquake is the movement or vibration in the earth caused by the sudden release of energy in the Earth's lithosphere. It results in the shaking of the ground and can lead to significant damage and destruction if severe enough.

What is vibration?

Vibration is the rapid back-and-forth movement of an object or a material. It can be felt as a pulsating or shaking motion and is caused by energy being transferred through the material. Examples of sources of vibration include a vibrating phone, an earthquake, or a tuning fork.

How is energy from an earthquake transferred?

Vibration

What have they discovered about earthquakes?

they are caused by Tectonic plates which are constantly moving and when they crash into each other which causes a vibration and that triggers a earthquake...hope it helps :)
